PKR AND CELEBRITY CHEF FOR CHARITY
Online poker firm in London charity fundraiser
The online poker company PKR.com pitched in to help a children’s charity at a London event involving celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and ace footballer Teddy Sheringham this week. The event was in aid of the One to One Children’s Fund, involved in child assistance around the world.
Held at London’s Sketch Restaurant, the fundraiser featured the Omar Sharif Backgammon tournament and a PKR.com sponsored poker tourney, between them raising over GBP 200 000 for the charity. Buy-ins were set at GBP 365, representing care of GBP 1 per child for a year.
On the poker side, the PKR tournament was taken by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White’s daughter Letitia, who took home a trophy marking the event, the satisfaction of having claimed a number of bounty celebrity player heads and GBP 4 000.
PKR marketing manager Erika Schwartz was delighted by the success of the night, saying that many people contributed to a truly worthy and important cause.
