Oh my aching head….
Wow! What a weekend. This was the most phenomenal event I have ever attended and I have the dark circles under my eyes to prove it. Warren and Greg came stumbling in to my room at 10:00 am this morning! So needless to say they wont be at this afternoons beach party. We will have full coverage and pictures next week but I wanted to give everyone a quick update on CAP Euro Barcelona today.
1. The turn out exceeded all expectations, I am waiting on final numbers but we broke all attenedence records for an affiliate event. 1200+ people flooded the hotel and conference halls and we had record attendence at our parties too. An example would be Friday night when we had over 900 people join us at one of Barcelona’s Hottest night clubs; Guru!!! That’s 900 at one party guys!. We ripped the place down! We had entertainers, we had women dressed as cats and we even had Gorillas! At 3:00 am there were still people partying down in CAP Style!!! It was truly surreal and more then a few people needed help getting back to the hotel! There is no party like a CAP Partya and we had them every night!
2. The stars turned out in Barcelona! Not only did we have Poker Legend Doyle Brunson as our keynote speaker, but he hung out all weekend! He even joined us at all the parties too! Doyle still parties with the best of them! He is a real class act and warm and friendly person. He signed books for attendees and graciously chatted with everyone. It was such an honor to have him with us. He is our new official CAP Poker Ambassador and I look forward to seeing him again soon.
3. Tila Tequila and the Tila girls were in the house and turning up the heat too. Tila was signing posters and doing shots of Tequila with all of us during conference days and partying the nights away in CAP Style. Aye Carumba!
4. Everyones favorite Bad Boy Calvin Ayre made a special appearance at CAP Euro and was at the bar in the Bodog Booth meeting and greeting delegates. He truly is larger then life and I personally enjoyed the opportunity to meet him and chat for a few minutes.
CAP Euro Barcelona was a huge hit with the media and you will see pictures and details of the event in numerous magazines in the weeks to come. You can also catch coverage of the Affiliate Series Of Poker on television on The Poker Channel.
I want to thank everyone who joined us for making this such an amazing event. Now I cant wait to see how we top it in London this January!
Mrs Professor and I are leaving for Madrid for a few days to recuperate then we will be back to work in a week. See you soon. :hattip:
October 7, 2007 at 5:44 pm #750760AnonymousInactiveI have to agree, it was a dynamite event. And it is still going on at the Carpe Diem down by the beach. I had a wonderful time.
For me the best part of the conferences is always the people. Many have become old friends over the years, and every conference there are new people to meet and welcome into the circle.
While pretty young girls don’t do much for me, famous people like Doyle and Calvin are exiting and stimulating to meet.
Everytime I attend a conference I come back with new ideas and contacts and this time is no different. Things will be hopping at G&C once I get back, and I bet we’ll be busy until we pick up more inspiration in London in January.
Touching base with tried and true business partners is also always inspiring, these relationships just get better over time and we know each other well enough to be aware that it’s a win-win or lose-lose situation for us. If one of us succeeds, we both do. If one of us does not do well, the other loses too. That kind of business relationship makes for partners that help each other do better and I am very happy to be able to continue cementing these relationships year after year.
I am staying one more day to rest up and enjoy the sights and sun, and then I am heading home.

For me and my sidekick Dean it was a great event, it was also Deans first event which I am sure was a bit of an eye opener into this crazy industry!
Highlights of the trip for me in no particular order:
– Meeting the affs
– Boozing
– Seeing big Doyle
– Boozing
– Hangovers
– Car crash in a taxi which 4 of us survived and made it out to the final nights party even with a sore pinkie!!!
– Errrrr cant remember much else but I know it was a good un.A big thanks to all those involved in putting this bad boy together and sorting out the parties, much appreciated. :hattip:
Hope to catch up with you all again very soon!
Martyn
P.S. Dont forget to vote for me again at the CAPawards as the votes had to be reset! Thanks all. :wavey:

Cant wait for London already!October 8, 2007 at 6:49 pm #750830AnonymousInactiveAlthough I am feeling terrible after 10 nights out in a row I had a brilliant time and am now looking forward to making London even bigger! My top 5 highs and lows were:
Highs:
1. Watching England beat Australia on 5 huge screens in the expo room
2. Meeting Doyle Brunson and his wife who is possibly the nicest lady ever!
3. Seeing the best ASOP to date and knowing it will be on the poker channel Euorpe
4. Finally finishing the bar tab at the sunday Session after 7 hours and 14 minutes of drinking – Whew!
5. Hanging out with old and new friends from all over the world.Lows:
1. Trying to find a dam taxi at 4am in Barcelona
2. Stuffing inserts into a mountain of delegate bags – It took over 6 hours!!!
3. Finding out the hotel room I booked for the Wednesday night last week was booked for Sept 5th instead of Oct 5th (Joy!)
4. Hangovers!
5. Saying goodbye to everyoneWe will put a survey out soon so make sure you fill it out so we can make the next event even better.
October 8, 2007 at 6:57 pm #750832AnonymousInactiveThere is one thing I would to see somehow in the future, although I have no idea how it can be done.
I would love to be able to meet all the other affs and know who they are in relation to their CAp and GPWA nicks.
Maybe put them on the tag?

We could definately do that as people already enter this when they register – We could then give them the choice of putting this on or not
October 8, 2007 at 8:47 pm #750838AnonymousInactiveGreat event as always – thanks to all involved. Can’t wait for London
