This cracks me up. Antigua could easily be practicing the same tactics, if the U.S. ignores the WTO ruling on Internet gambling.

exactly. and what gall to file anything when you haven’t abided by rulings already set.
W at his finest.
April 9, 2007 at 7:05 pm #733397AnonymousInactiveDoesn’t the WTO have something like “members in good standing” and those who are not compliant can’t complain?
They should.

April 9, 2007 at 7:26 pm #733410AnonymousInactiveThe problem with WTO is that it does not have any real power. It can critizise “evil doers” and urge them to abide by the rules, but it cannot sanction against member states. WTO can say that the US does not abide to the rules and urge them to change their practice, but if the US refuses they cannot be anything about it.

“deutschen Online Kasinos”
It’s “Deutsche Online Casinos”
It is rarely ever spelled with a K, country names are always capitalized, and the ending for plural is “e” hence “Deutsche”

April 10, 2007 at 1:35 am #733463AnonymousInactiveYou people don’t seem to understand the rules of the Universe:wink-wink :
The US accepts any “correct” ruling, by any international body. It’s only the incorrect ones the US ignores. Fortunately George Bush has done more than any president to insure that only “correct” International rulings are respected.
The saddest thing, is the US created the UN, designed the Security Council and made the rules. The US pushed NAFTA on the Canada and Mexico (i happen to think it’s good idea), then refused to accept a ruling the sided with Canada on lumber. After 24 years of fighting, the US finally settled with Canada, forcing Canada to accept less than the NAFTA ruling had given. The US didn’t like the old GATT rules and led the creation of the WTO, then ignores rulings against it.
It’s pretty amazing, but when i was growing up in the US, we were told how the Soviet Union never lived up to the treaties it signed. Now you grow up, find out (regardless of what the Soviets did) that the US doesn’t live up to many of it’s agreements too. Nobody, no country is perfect, but GwB and his merry band never think they’re wrong, yet they are rarely right. SAD.
The worst part is that UIGEA wasn’t really Bush’s work.

:dafingers :dafingers :dafingers :dafingersApril 11, 2007 at 12:50 pm #733607vladcizsolMemberI agree with Dom. The WTO should not allow new grievances to be filed by countries who are not in compliance with their rulings.
You cant have your cake and eat it too.
April 11, 2007 at 12:53 pm #733611AnonymousInactiveThat would be nice, You will see changes once the US is no longer the biggest kid on the block as China will surpass us soon as the world power.
April 11, 2007 at 1:10 pm #733619vladcizsolMemberNot really. We are assimiliating the Chinese. Capitalism has been consuming them from within over the past 20 years. In time they will be fully controlled by special interest money just like the US, UK, Australia and Canada are. They will be a mirror image of us and dancing on the same puppet strings we do.
We did it to the mighty Soviet Union and China and India will be no different. Money and greed conquers all it seems.
