Well I was looking for some access to educational (not college) affiliate programs for a new portal idea. A bit of searching led me to Affiliate Fuel. I’ve seen their name for years, advertising in magazines or sponsoring stuff at shows, so i applied.
I wait a few days and then get a call at about 7pm my time from someone who wants to talk to me about my application. I tell him to call back between 9am – 5pm eastern to reach me. So, he calls back at 7pm the next the night. I proceed to tell him who i am, what i do and how i am focusing on non-gambling stuff. He seems all wigged out that my lottery site (which has no ads selling gambling, tickets, etc.) showed US lottery results and that i had an ad for http://www.CityLotto.com on my dictionary site (mind you google doesn’t care). “We can’t accept gambling sites”. They’re not gambling, nothing expect lottery results and in the city lotto case, a free contest. The sites are clean.
I wait a week or so and then receive message on the phone asking me to call them. I’m tired of these idiots already, so i don’t call back. It’s an internet affiliate program, but they don’t/won’t use email. Today, over 2 weeks after i applied, i received the generic “you’re disapproved and it could be for whatever reason we want to hide from you” email.
So, i promised them i would tell my friends that Affiliate Fuel doesn’t want new affiliates, or maybe they don’t want affiliates that have had prior success in the industry. And they don’t use the internet, but rather call you in the evening when you’re with your family.
if you work with them, let your affiliate manager know how impressed i am.
