I posted this in another thread..
My inital views on why this has happened, was that Frist needed to appeal to the conversative groups which will make him their preferred leader when it comes to the presidental race. Making it harder for anyone else contest against him as the preffered republician leader.
What better way then to attack an industry such as internet gambling( myths and mis truths to get people to follow you), and then to gain further support by using terms such as terrorism without evidence to back up such unsubstanitated claims.
October 9, 2006 at 1:04 am #710698AnonymousInactiveI was thinking, in regards to my last post… George Bush could throw the amended bill back into the senate for debate. And he has good reason to…
Frist would be his opponent when it comes to the 2008 elections. By supporting Frist in getting the appended gambling bill through, he is only increasing Frists power and support base. By pushing the appended bill back into the senate of further debate, he keeps Frist honest and doesnt help Frist, a future opponent in building his support and power base.
Of course the Port Secutiy bill would go through without any problems and would help Bush strengthen his already conservative base, which is something Frist would have looked at tapping into.
Surely the power brokers, and spin doctors see this. Alternatively, they see Bush as a lost cause, who will be outed in the 2008 elections(hence the push of so many radical bills) and a strengthening of Republician governing government, and bringing in fresh blood (Frist) for the presidental race?
Thoughts?
October 9, 2006 at 1:18 am #710699AnonymousInactiveI say to everybody to wake up and smell the coffee … do
research on how the online gambling excutives were
paying Million$ to lobbyists to keep the gates open for us .
.. which is why this hasn’t happened earlier … the only
reason he wouldn’t sign the bill is if those wire
transfers did not go through. Follow the money.
October 9, 2006 at 1:47 am #710702AnonymousInactivewell then Frist is a shoe in… and the gambling bill is there to appeal to conversatives in bringing Frist to forefront is a presidental candidate.
great scott!
October 9, 2006 at 7:31 am #710720AnonymousInactiveFrist will NEVER be president. He just couldn’t WAIT to get into office to commit his scandals. Public awareness of his past will be too dramatic to vote him into office.

I say more likely than not, if things remain the same, this sneaky tactic of Frist will come back to haunt him in 2008.
Anyway he’s no saint
“This year, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) launched an investigation into possible wrongdoing at the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA)—a Tennessee-based company started by the Frist family. The current senator sold the stock from some of his HCA blind trusts in June, two weeks before the company announced a drop in future earnings. “

October 9, 2006 at 9:38 pm #710794AnonymousInactiveIf you’re in the US, read the polls. Frist doesn’t even have a chance of being nominated! It will most likely be a moderate. Besides, both major parties follow the money – it’s just that one is for corporate money and the other is socialist!
