So, Black Friday is when a new class of criminals are created

out of thin air in the land of the free. Anybody think

that the arrests may then increase exponentionally ?

Why have people been saying he only has 10 days to sign it with congress on break? I guess if they count business days next Friday will be the 10th day – like they are rubbing it in our faces?

If I am correct even if he does not sign it after 10 days if he takes no action it still becomes Law. This is a cover your ass thing for the president to let something become law but he can say he did not sign it. Just more politics.

The confusion here stems from whether the so-called “pocket veto” would apply in this case or not. There’s a thread around here somewhere with the relevant details. If Congress is adjourned, and the president doesn’t sign within 10 days, the bill is dead. If Congress is in session, and the president doesn’t sign within 10 days, the bill becomes law. The question: Is Congress adjourned right now, or on recess until the lame duck session.

This is a pointless distinction, since Bush will sign anyway.
