InactiveThis one worries me, and worries my for real – i have everything planned and paid for (partially myself, partially sponsored). How many of you guys are going and how many are changing their minds?
I like the atmosphere of the CAC’s and i like the event – but its definitely not worth having to spend time behind bars for it, be it even a few hours/days.
Can anyone shed a bit more light on this thing please?

MemberGolden Palace started calling larger affiliates of theirs and other programs that were attending CAC last night and thats what touched all this off this morning. They were paying for 30 affiliates to attend plus having several large shin digs in Vegas and they called War last night and told him they were cancelling everything and pulling out based on the info their party planners uncovered. Apparently one of the event planners has relatives in the Sheriffs department and they didnt want them getting popped too during the sweep so they tipped them off to stay away from the Stardust…
Golden Palace is a VERY large and well funded organization so I trust them when they say their info is legit.
I have no desire to spend time in the Las Vegas jail system arguing the legal merits of online gambling.
NOTE: These additional details are private area material. I dont want to expose Golden Palace or their event planners as the source of the tips as people could lose their jobs over this. Please keep this info confidential.

InactiveThanks for the info Professor, of course this never leaves the private area. This really looks bad, im affraid the authorities will first get as many as possible arrested and only then start to ask questions. neither do i have the will to spend time in jail there explaining what is exactly that i do…
I think i have to call off my LV CAC attendance this year. Hopefully just going there and staying in Vegas will not be seen as an online gambling related offence…

InactiveI am cancelling too.

InactiveAny opinions regarding the exact nature of the “sweep” or arrest situation?
If its limited to the conference itself then some of us non-USA based folks would likely still come down and have fun. If on the otherhand the authorities have the attendee’s list and warrants for those on the list, then even coming to the USA may be a bad idea.
Thoughts???

InactiveI have absolutely no idea Kevin11, the truth is though – i DO have a lot that im risking even if it was to be limited to the CAC area. We are all enjoying farily troubleless life with unlimited revenue possibilities and why putting this all at stake? Im not US-based and i dont think i will be going to the US at all now.
Would you like to be the scapegoat? Even if the chances are really slim, im not a gambler and i will not put everything i have at stake just for the sake of spending a few days in Vegas

InactiveMy only thought is that I am already on the damn list and if they want me, it won’t be to hard to figure out who I am and where I live and they will just come to the house. While I realize that it would be convienent and probably politicly driven to round us all up at a conference, if they want me they will probably get me eventually anyway.
My next thought is if I am too scared to go to a conference, then why in the hell do I still own sites in this industry.
I don’t have any answers and I am probably not going now, but the whole thing is bullshit. I hope someone puts together a site telling which communist bastards not to vote for in a couple months and which ones to vote for so maybe we can get some frieken support somewhere.

InactiveI am also considering not entering the USA at this point in time or at any other point. It doesn’t seem to matter that I am not breaking any laws. The US government has gotten too big for its own good and can do as they please.
It does seem silly to risk staying in prison for extended periods of time for a couple of days in Vegas.

InactiveIndeed, the price to be paid should anything happen is too much for me.
The americans very often seem to look for scapegoats in order to distract the publics attention from other, more important matters. No offence for all of you american guys out there of course and im not getting political here – i would simply not be suprised at all if those arrest are made. And if they will not happen, then well – the choice is yours really, u know what youre putting at stake here.

InactiveI’m hoping that this all boils down to people being paranoid because common sense tells me that there is no way that an affiliate can be at risk at this point in time.
But, then again, the US Authorities and Gov. don’t always act in a manner that is synonymous with common sense.
This whole situation is beyond belief.
I’m sure that thousands of people in other web industries unknowingly break some law in some country. If I recall, aren’t there some radical middle eastern countries where using certain profanity is deemed illegal? If this is the case would’nt it be crazy for a person with profanity on their website to be at risk of arrest in that country where it is deemed illegal?
It is unreasonable for a person doing business on the web to be knowledgable and in compliance of all laws for all countries, territories, states, provinces etc.
Where does this trend end? In the future will Pot Houses in Amsterdam be considered fugitives because an American tourist got high while on vacation?
I’m frustrated, confused and baffled by these trends.
For now I will wait and see what happens over the next few days before making a decision to go to Vegas.
Maybe these hypothetical scenarios are B.S. and have no bearing here, but I wanted to rant a bit….

InactiveSo even us affiliates should be worried ?
I made the (now) bad choice of staying at the stardust. I guess i cant even really take a vacation there.

MemberHolis I wouldnt stay at the Stardust. No matter what switch hotels at the very least if you are going to chance it and go.

InactiveI wonder if they have my name from the panel listings…
I am worried to get off the plane.
This really sucks, as I bought my mom a ticket too.

InactiveI am not cancelling because of the “sweep”.
I am cancelling because I mainly go to these things to do business and most of the people I do it with won’t be there.
I will be going to meet them elsewhere.

InactiveWhat about the last pub post from the attorney ?
