Engineer wrote:Hi Yashin,Quick question about cross-marketing at ReferSpot.
Say I refer someone to Lake Palace. Player spends $1,000, I take home $250.
Then, say ReferSpot cross-markets to that player (via email, for example) and invites him to play at Bella Vegas. Player spends $1,000….
Do I take home $250, or do I take home $0?
Yashin wrote:Hi Dave,The short answer to your question is “$0”.
This is based on the current system that we and all the other MGS operators have.I am completely stunned. :notify:
This information, combined with his earlier comment —
once a player registers at any one brand in a group – there’s nothing to stop that group from cross-marketing to that player anyway. This is pretty much de rigueur for our industry
— really surprises me. Basically, he is saying that it is “normal” for them to entice our referrals to play at the other casinos in their group — and then not pay us for the wagering that happens there?
Does this make any sense? I always assumed that we DID get credit in situations like this. It only seems fair. I mean, if we hadn’t referred the player to the first casino in the first place, the group wouldn’t have anyone to cross-market to!!!
So… apparently ReferSpot poaches our referrals. Nice. I have a hard time accepting that all of the other MGS programs do this is well. Does anyone know if this is true? I don’t have enough experience or knowledge to know one way or the other.

August 24, 2006 at 1:41 pm #703336AnonymousInactiveThanks Prof.
I know BrightShare cross-markets and keeps my players. I have not looked into all the others, but the APCW did some tests on those buddy systems and, as I recall, not too favorable.
August 24, 2006 at 3:38 pm #703357AnonymousInactiveI hope Yashin is just ignorant, but referspot regularly yields me a lot less comission than other micros, so I must wonder.
