    I have a newbie question –

When you send a player to a casino via your affiliate link and they sign up as a fun player instead of a real player I am sure they are subject to promotional emails from the casino. If they should later decide to sign up via a link in an email advertisement from the casino who gets the credit?

Also – I have found from visiting many of the affiliate programs that it really doesn’t mention how long the cookies stay active for once a player clicks on your affiliate link. Are they usually good for a day, month, 6 months? Anybody know or does a person have to inquire with each individual casino to find out?

The cookie is there until it is deleted or overwritten in most cases.
In a perfect world all players that signed up under you would always be yours. But let’s say your player signed up for casino a as a play money player, then casino a sends a email which if they deposited, you would earn BUT in that email they throw in banners for casino b and c, in most cases you just lost that player to casino b which didn’t have your affiliate link.

I may be wrong but that is my understanding.

Let me ask you this then.

If a player signs up at a casino, for example 7 sultans and then another affiliate sends the same player to Platinum Play from a completely different site who gets the credit? Once an affiliate sends a player to a casino group, does he aquire all future signups from the same player within the casino group?

Somehow I got the understanding, I can’t remember from where, that if you send a player to a casino which is part of a group all other signups from that player within the group belong to you regardless of whether or not that same player clicked on another link from another site

I’m probably making this confusing. Is it making sense?

From my understanding with cookies, an expiration date is usually set. I think at one time I inquired with one of the casinos and was informed that it lasts for only three months once a player clicks on it.

It would be nice to know how long cookies are set for the casinos. You can’t seem to find this information anywhere in any of the casinos….

Phew – here’s my take on your questions :

Cookies are set for between 30 to 90 days usually. Each group varies.

Each group has their own rules regarding who owns the player – but usually each casino within the group is considered seperate. So if you’re the first person to send the person to THAT specific casino property then you usually get the cookie.

However, some groups don’t like players signing up to multiple properties and call them “bonus whores”. Some groups are OK with it.

Additionally, we’ve seen independant audits proving that several groups “cookie policy” simply does not work well at all – and many players are orphaned during the signup bonus (belong to no affiliate).

Check the threads written by J.Todd and the APCW.

This makes no sense to me – I’ve written several simple websites that use cookies and a login process to authenticate and display content – and I can tell you it’s relatviely easy to introduce a porcess that works 99.9% of the time.

Basically the whole process is deliberately shrouded in mist, seems purposely designed to fail to record cookies … in order to maximise uncertainty and increase the chance of affiliate free players.

You should only expect 60%-80% of your players to be recorded under you – and I don’t expect a mass rush by casinos to “fix” a “problem” that works very well financially for them.

    Thanks Gooner –

I appreciate you taking the time to answer me. Now I have a better understanding.
