InactiveI would much like 888 to have a while longer to react to some of the things I have set in motion.
After that we can toss them if they don’t respond, but this thread is very important now.
It keeps growing and gaining momentum and the industry is taking notice.
Look at the read number!!!
Please, lets continue this for a bit, it would be a precendent for us if we can make them fix this problem.
Believe me, I am not supporting their remaining on board because I love them for whatever reason. I think it is very important they be here while this continues for a while.
When I said I was mad as hell and I would clean up this scraper mess, I meant it.
We cleaned up the contract situation, and we can clean this up.
So, please, keep lending your support. You will see soon, we are making some headway already.

InactiveI agree. We shouldn’t let up on 888, because if we do – all will be lost. We all know that something is not quite right and hopefully we can impress upon the community AND 888 itself that scrapers should lose their income stream.
Once again – income is the only reason this has continued and without that, there is no reason to continue.
I say – continue until 888 pulls the scrapers revenue stream out from under them.

InactiveI agree Dominique the progress has been good. That was the goal from the beginning it is certainly putting CAP in high regard. As for your email what a joke, I have been recieving similiar emails. greek39
P.S The problem with 888.com is very deep. In my lab sits a 4×8 cork board tracking all movements. Keep the pressure up! the direct link to 888.com is on the thread you just have too find.

That’s the plan. Let’s make an example of 888. And for that we need them here for now.
Thank you for understanding.

InactiveYes. I agree they should stay on CAP.
I also agree to make them an example. I don’t promote them, but I am all over that thread because if other programs see what is happening to 888 – they will take a more pro-active approach to these slime.
THAT is what I hope comes about.

I agree. It will be interesting to see if they actually take the right stance. I’m giving them until Friday to do the right thing. If they don’t, then 888 will be featured on my rogue page.

MemberThats the only reason I have let this go on for nearly two months.
1. To let 888 know the depth of affiliate anger over this situation.
2. To set the example to other programs of what hell THEY could go through if they turn a blind to scrapers.
3. Hopefully 888 will at least reduce the amount of scraper activity going on out of sheer embarassment. That being said if Shelly doesnt continue to make MEANINGFUL forward movement on this I am going to de-certify them. Its very close now, but since they did blink and are moving Im extending their life a little while longer.

InactiveI know, I know, I am the one who wants them to stay.
Just look at the views this thread is getting now!
It is exactly what I wanted, the industry is watching now.
If we kill this thread now the effort will be for naught.
Please, just humor me here, we can always still toss them when we are done making an example.

InactiveI agree professor that is exactly what it has been about. I realized quickly you were willing to let it continue. So we all pitched in to draw it out, and in my opinion accomplished something. This may discourage other aff programs from following suite. greek39
P.S I agree more can be done.

I’ve been in contact with Bryan Bailey concerning Cassava. He is going to give Andrew Beveridge at eCOGRA a heads up and will be looking in on the thread here on Cap in the 888 forum.
I have also made him aware I will be pitching a bitch with him concerning Cassava on Friday, should Shelly and 888 not provide guarantees that they will close down each and every scraper account reported to them – Starting with the massive lists of scraper sites provided to them here on CAP.
I feel it is important that Bryan looks into this as he is not an affiliate and will also offer an impartial and honest appraisal of the situation.
I am hoping that Cassava will agree with our stance and work with us, but I do not hold out too much hope.

MemberDid you notice this little jewel 888 posted today:
Quote:I have been discussing the issues on this thread with my managers, and we will be putting together a forum that will lay out our policies against scrapping.
Hopefully I will have updates for you soon. They realize they are going to get booted from CAP and are setting up their own forum in anticipation of this where THEY control the conversation and posts.
I guess they realize you can only paint a pig so white, its still a pig. Its doubtful we will make much more progress with them as their only response to the suggestion that scrapers are permanantly banned was to say they were going to open a forum explaining thier position.
April 26, 2006 at 12:28 pm #690088Anonymous
InactiveYeah. Thought that was complete bullshit. Can someone (maybe the Professor) call them out and say ‘We would like to discuss this here as this forum is a more public way to get the information to the bulk of your affiliates’?
I mean, all they are trying to do is get it swept under the rug. I am sure this will be a forum set up like this:
2. robots.txt:
disallow */forum
So that the web doesn’t index it. That way they keep it all internal and you can’t search on it.
Complete bullshit.

InactiveHey – Do they have someone who can see the private forums? I wonder if this new thread spawned their decision to create their own forum.
April 26, 2006 at 12:53 pm #690091Anonymous
InactiveJust got off the phone speaking to Bryan. He certainly is going to look into this. It is also possible this issue with site scraping may get a mention on Casinomeister soon.
The main problem we have other than 888 not being as proactive as they can in shutting down the individuals behind the scraper sites is:
There is no direct link or proof that 888 actually do operate and own many of the scraper sites. We know they do, but we have no proof. The casinos are clever and cover their tracks, using affiliate id’s and different names and addresses in the whois records.
However, pressure on 888 and the other programs to introduce vetting of all sites that promote their brands should be encouraged. Such as what decent programs like Wagershare, Brightshare and 32Red do. This will go a long way to eliminating scrapers.
I guess 888 are in a quandry at the moment, as their high serps and no doubt a high percentage of their affiliate earnings is made up on the back of these scraper sites that promote them.
