AMSTERDAM CAC 2006
This town and event really turns it on and makes the thirty hours in transit each way seem like… well, thirty hours in transit, but at least I have a blast at the conference and parities.
This year I had the pleasure of catching up with many affiliates who I had met from past events. It’s really good to be able to do some serious business at the booth and then catch up for a social drink at the after event parties. I could definitely tell you about the parties but, to borrow a phrase, what happens in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam!

Hot Topics
Some of the major points raised were black hat SEO once again and also the issue of rakeback within the industry. I don’t believe that much will change on either of these fronts in the short term but as further consolidation continues it will be easier to set up systems to put off black hat affiliates from trying their luck in ripping off other genuine hard working affiliates like you.

General talks with affiliates showed that as far as SEO is concerned there varying views on what works best. Some affiliates concentrate on back links and others are purely reliant on content to build search engine momentum.
My theory is as long as you have good content you will obtain back links by default as your quality content will, over time, be a valuable resource for others to link to.
Many new blogs have been set up on the premise that search engines simply love new content and once again I can not argue with this and have found the same to be true of our blog site http://www.gambleblogs.com which you can subscribe to RSS feeds for content on our properties that you can then add to your site.
Action
Events like CAC not only keep me in closer contact with existing affiliates and provide me with access to new affiliates but also offer a valuable learning opportunity.
The stand out message from this event is that as affiliates you need access to good content on a regular basis.
The team here at RevenueGiants.com had already seen this trend and will be bring out a series of new date based promotions with functions that will mean you can update content on your site automatically.
Onwards and Upwards
If you haven’t registered for the next event on the calendar, get a move on. The CAP Spring Break in Miami is a great place for the advanced or beginner and there is always something new to learn to grow your business.
Don’t forget to keep getting your entries in for our prize of a fully setup affiliate website http://www.itsabingo.com which we are drawing at our event in Miami. Check out the site or email me for further details.
I hope to see you there.
