    Hi there.
My very first post, be gentle :wink-wink

I was wondering about banner serving. Some programs I’ve registered to assume I download the banner and serve it myself from my web server, others serve them directly from their own server.

What are the benefits / drawbacks of each method?
I guess if I serve the banners, it makes tracking each banners views/clicks -ratio harder, as the views are not registered. On the other hand when I serve the banners, I have more control over them.
    Any other benefits / drawbacks?

    Thanks in advance!

If you do it yourself it loads faster, and it only goes down if your site is down anyway.

The casino servers do go down periodically and then the banners they serve don’t show.

One advantage to using program served banners, especially those that offer rotation, is that it keeps your content fresh and timely with little effort on your part.

I would also add that relying on banners alone is a mistake, IMHO. You should always offer a healthy mix of text links in your content so even if banners should fail, you are still offering a way for your customers to play and for you to get paid!

    Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the info. I think I’ll serve the banners myself for the time being, as keeping the banners fresh isn’t any sort of problem yet at my miniscule site.
