February 19, 2006 at 6:36 pm #683973AnonymousInactiveweird, now its all gone, also from other sites I checked, could be because they are in the middle of the update?
February 19, 2006 at 6:44 pm #683974AnonymousInactiveYep, still moving around.
February 19, 2006 at 6:56 pm #683976AnonymousInactiveYup – there’s three different sets of PR results showing across the DC’s. One is current, one is rollback and one is ??
February 19, 2006 at 7:17 pm #683977AnonymousInactiveI agree this update takes a while to settle. I am getting ranges from 3-5 the bot has pounded my site 200x this month so far. greek39

In order to have a good indication of what your PR and BL’s will be after the update it is best to use a tool that check multiple data centers on Google.
Keep in mind the tools are not always accurate and should be used as a guideline and not a definite check.
Here are some tools to check Google PR and BL on multiple DC’s (no particular order):
http://dl7.info/pagerank/index.php
http://seologs.com/pagerank/current-pagerank/currentpr-dc.html
http://www.seologs.com/pagerank/prv1/pagerank.html
http://www.wmtoolkit.net/seo-tools/pagerank-checker/
http://www.seochat.com/?go=1&option=com_seotools&tool=9&url=
http://www.mcdar.net/Q-check/datatool.asp
Once the update is finished, you will see the changes in your Google Toolbar and on Google by searching for your url with “link:” before the www.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on Matt Cutts blog, as he is usually the one to report on these things once the cat is out of the bag.
February 20, 2006 at 9:09 am #684013AnonymousInactiveHow long does the update usually take?
February 20, 2006 at 9:40 am #684015AnonymousInactiveIt usually takes just a few days to sync completely through all DC’s, but Google has been doing things a little out of pattern as of late so there is really no way to tell how long THIS PR/BL update will take to show up on all DC’s.
Keep an eye on Matt Cutts blog, he will probably update us all Monday or Tuesday depending on if he recognizes PREZ day and is working or not.
I estimated that this PR/BL update was going to happen on Valentines day, so I guess I wasn’t that far off (only 4 days).
I didn’t see any PR or BL all day on my sites, but now it looks like it is showing on the TB nearly every time I open a new window or refresh the page.
It’s kinda strange, my homepage got PR=3 and is 3 months old. Some of my internal site pages got PR=4 which is weird as usually the sub-pages and directories have less of a PR than the index page.
Well, another 3 months or so until we see another PR/BL export from Google (unless they change again). If you are not happy with the changes this update brought you, keep building links and promoting and hopefully next time you wont be disappointed.
February 20, 2006 at 11:44 am #684022AnonymousInactiveWell, we got PR3 for about 70% of the site and the rest got PR4. Index got 3 though.
All pages started off at 0 so I guess it is good.thanks for the info!
February 20, 2006 at 5:44 pm #684093AnonymousInactiveHey from PR0 to PR3 in the 4 months I’ve been around. Not too shabby!
February 20, 2006 at 6:16 pm #684103AnonymousInactiveTOG wrote:weird, now its all gone, also from other sites I checked, could be because they are in the middle of the update?Google updates get more and more complicated i guess, These PR changes are in progress for over 48 hours and still it looks like it has just started.
I guess this will settle down within a couple of days.
February 20, 2006 at 9:50 pm #684131AnonymousInactiveI heard of one site that got a PR=5 and is only 5 weeks old (wish it was mine). I hope the rest of the members here get good results this PR update and that at least some of your hard work is paying off in search results pages and traffic to your sites.
February 21, 2006 at 5:40 am #684185AnonymousInactiveI’m noticing the rollback to before the last update and the current PR readings across the multiple datacenters. No new PR is showing. Yes, Google has been working in strange ways the past few months, they have rolled back to old results several times for days at a time.
DealerDan, not to burst your bubble, but you can achieve a PR3 with a few days worth of link exchanges. PR3 is very easy to reach. PR4 takes some good effort. PR5 takes a ton of dedicated effort. PR6 is very very hard to achieve, and is nearly impossible though simple link exchanges only. PR is a logrithmic calculation and it takes an increasingly more difficult amount of work to achieve each level. The good news is that a PR5 should be all you need to compete fairly well.
February 21, 2006 at 4:59 pm #684257AnonymousInactiveWebber286. You are exactly right about your findings during this PR update. Things are a changin’ over at the Googleplex and it looks like they are trying some new things with some of their features. I guess we will have to wait for a formal ‘update’ from Matt Cutts or the Google blog before we have an indication of what’s going on.
I have been reading your posts for awhile now and am impressed at your level of knowledge regarding SEO. How long have you been in the game?
Most of the best SEO’s do not work for other people, they usually have their own sites either affiliate or some other niche. They are good at what they do, so most rely on their skills for their own sites and do really well on the Net. I am guessing you fit into that category, but either way you know your stuff and give genuinely good advice.
It would be cool to have you stop by my forums sometime and share some of your knowledge in our SEO tips category! :drunk2:
February 21, 2006 at 5:18 pm #684261AnonymousInactiveThanks Seoforumz. I’ve been working on websites since 1995 and did some low-level seo stuff as early as 1998 with AltaVista. Honestly, I’ve focused more on building websites since then as SEO kind of faded into the background until Google came about. My recent entry into the gambling industry gave me the inspiration to get back into SEO, so I’ve really only been doing it since maybe September of last year, but I’ve read a ton, have a friend who works for an SEO company providing advice, and tried some things out on my gambling site as well as other sites I manage.
In relation to this thread, I did see a PR5 early this morning, though it’s back to the PR4 I’ve been staring at for the last 3+ months. Google needs to get on monthly updates or something, 3 months feels like an eternity online.
