Hi all, I have a quick question. I recently had my new site submitted to yahoo and it was rejected. There was no explaination. I had someone check the normal reasons for banning or excluding a site (i.e. duplicate content) and there seems to be no apparent reason. My question is, does anyone know if yahoo doesn’t allow affiliate gambling sites anymore? This is the only reason I could come up with- but I hope that isn’t it.
February 16, 2006 at 4:20 pm #683729AnonymousInactiveThere is never any reason to submit your site. In fact, it is probably frowned upon in our industry as many people feel our sites are just spam (when in fact it is really the crappy ones that make us all look bad.
Get some backlinks. You will then be spidered and will be in the search engines without submitting directly to them.
February 16, 2006 at 4:22 pm #683730AnonymousInactiveAs KWblue says there is no reason to submit to the search engines. However did mean you were rejected by them when you submitted to the search engine or yahoo directory?
February 16, 2006 at 9:09 pm #683743AnonymousInactiveDid you submit an url or a list?
On the yahoo submit page there is an input for submitting an URL list and another for submitting a single url.
February 16, 2006 at 9:30 pm #683745AnonymousInactiveAgreed. Don’t bother submitting your site. You will be listed much quicker if you get backlinks. You post is interesting though. Did you receive a message from Yahoo saying you were denied. If this is the case then you must be talking about the Yahoo Directory, not the search engine. The Directory stopped accepting gambling ads recently.

February 16, 2006 at 10:50 pm #683761AnonymousInactiveThey do that to other sites too. I think though as gambling site chances that they will approve you are next to nil.
February 17, 2006 at 12:15 am #683763AnonymousInactiveConsidering Yahoo doesn’t even have a category anymore for Online Gambling or anything related, don’t bother giving them your $300. There appears to be no way to pay Yahoo for inclusion on their site. Unless of course you are selling a Gambling System, eBook or newsletter.
February 20, 2006 at 3:04 pm #684037AnonymousInactiveThanks for the replies all. I used a search engine submitting company and all the others were completed except for yahoo. It was not to the directory just the search engine directory for inclusion. I’m still not certain why it wasn’t indexed. I used a service called Y-boost and the email I received said that Yahoo would not accept it and there was no explaination. That’s why I was wondering if the yahoo wouldn’t accept casino affiliate sites. I will take your advice, kwblue, and no longer submit to search engines. I didn’t know that I would be found by backlinking alone. Thanks again.
February 20, 2006 at 5:06 pm #684081AnonymousInactiveAre you talking about the website in your sign ?
The home page is already indexed in Yahoo.
Also 5 bakc links .February 20, 2006 at 6:06 pm #684100AnonymousInactiveHey villa! THANKS!!! yes I was talking about the site in my sig. I didn’t know I was in! I wrote the original post several days ago, at which point- I was not included in Yahoo. However, I have been without electricity for 3 days (wind storms?) and today is my first day back online. That is why I was still under the impression that I wasn’t in Yahoo (I came here first lmao.) Thank you very much for pointing out that I was in fact included.
