:bored:I’m assuming that the numbers that you’ve got there are TOTAL TURNOVER and NET PROFIT ??
If so then generally, you can expect a bookmaker to make between 6-8% of turnover (on average) in GROSS profit.
You might expect that to be reduced by up to 1/4 by various charges such as :
— Banking fees (2-3% of deposits)
— Bonus (joining payments).
— Gambling taxes. You will get different charges depending on the bookmaker jurisdiction and the agreement that you have. If that’s the case then 5-6% of gross turnover to the bookie is expected, and at 30% share around 1.75% to yourself.
But it will vary tremendously … depending on the sport … the number of upsets … your number of players … and whether you have a large mix of players (say 50+) betting on all sorts of sports.
As an example of variance … I track all my bookies .. and here are the percentage figures for my top four turnover bookies who all have 50+ users.
MONTH B1 .. B2 .. B3 .. B4
Jul-05 3% . -1% . -9% .. 5%
Aug-05 1% .. 3% .. 7% . -3%
Sep-05 3% .. 5% . -3% .. 5%
Oct-05 8% .. 3% .. 1% .. 4%
Nov-05 4% .. 2% . -5% .. 3%
Dec-05 4% .. 2% .. 4% .. 6%As you can see … my profit ratio (compared to total turnover) jumps between +8% to -9%. :Ohno:
But the averages are much closer to expectations :
Median = 3%
Average = 2%You are getting paid about 0.6% which is lower than you might have hoped for … but hardly proof of a “racket” … yet !!
:popcorn:Do you get any more detailed reports :
– by user ?
– by day?
– by sport? If so you might be able to breakdown why it is low this month.
Oh … who is it?
I may be using them and can provide a bit more feedback ??
