Ok, I haven’t clicked the link because it just looks like a weird domain and I am leery.
I got this in the mail today:
Hello,
As you may recall, roughly 5 years ago one of the highest reputed private OG sites who had built their business from the ground up was purchased by a Media Giant, very much to the disappointment of it’s officers, and those who had made it the most reputed group over the years.
These officers and executives have continued where they had left off, and as you have done business with these people in the past, we are inviting you to reap the benefits again, though a similar affiliate structure, but with a much higher payout. Incentives not only include instant money, but residuals of up to 50% permanently for referring traffic to some properties, with 2nd and 3rd tier opportunities.
Simply apply here: xxxxhttp://globalaffiliatesignup.ath.cx/
Fill out the form and we will contact you soon to begin moving forward. Be sure to mention if you are still operating your site: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Otherwise, to decline this offer and not receive any promotional offers from a group that would like to line your pockets with gold:
xxxxhttp://globalaffiliategroup.ath.cx/ – enter your email address and submit.
Looking forward to a rekindled business relationship,
Greg Bloom

or submit a request for a callback via Email. The site they mentioned is one I purchased a year ago, so no idea what the past connection may be. Does the name Greg bloom click with anyone?

The .cx extension had me immediately suspicious so had a quick look and the website is a one page job sitting on a host with a “free DNS” link in the top right corner. There is no owner info, the two links at the bottom of the page don’t work and it looks like a scam. Although the whois is inconclusive, I definately wouldn’t trust it as it stands! The only possible positive one can take from it is that the domain has been registered since 2001 and is to 2013. And that’s a very minor positive!
Even if it’s not a scam (and I’m pretty sure it is), it’s so amateur that I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them.

Maybe we need to post this in public before some people fall into a trap.
