There is a problem when people are trying to access my site. When they click on my URL or in search engine, they are prompted to enter a username/password before seeing the site. I get in my using my database name/pass. What have I done and any ideas and how I can remove this?

Thanks

Daniel,

I think you need to look in your control panel for the page you have set up to display when logged in. You need to check your paths in your control panel.

Sorry Siouxzee I don’t exactly follow what you mean. The control panel of my web hosting account? I don’t have an option at all on my site for people to register/login. I think it has something to do with my database.

PS. website is xhttp://www.canadianpokeronline.com

Type
xftp://www.canadianpokeronline.com

Then log in, and you will see all of your folders and files.

Check your headers in your index.htm file. You definitley have .htaccess enabled somewhere. If not in the header of your actual web page, then prolly in your public html folders somewhere(published pages.) Also check your “permissions” on the site. Otherwise, your host may have something to do with it. Email them too they may be able to help…

To me it sounds like a permissions problem. Either of two things :
A) Your host needs to unlock your website for it to be available (I’ve seen that before), but from what I understand your site has been up for a while.
B) In your control panel, you haven’t enabled the permissions for the folder in which your site is in meaning that by default, people are unauthorized to view it.

Which web panel is your host (and which host) using?
