Mystery surrounds murder of online gambling entrepreneur Adam Anhang (update 2)
The former CFO of Dr. Ho and CEO of CWC Gaming, Adam Anhang, was brutally stabbed to death Thursday night in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Gambling911.com first broke the story of this unfolding tragedy Friday evening. The murder occurred at a street intersection of Calle de la Luna in Historic Old San Juan, which is typically bustling with tourists and locals (even at the time of this murder took place). Anhung was also a part-owner in the Martineau Bay Resort & Spa (a former Wyndham property soon to become the Caribbean’s first W Hotel) in Vieques, eight miles off the east coast of Puerto Rico. The victim of the murder had his personal articles, money and documents, which could discard robbery as a motive. A woman, who was said to be Anhang’s wife (though others suggest they were not married), accompanied him. Initial reports suggested she too had been killed, but Anhang’s female acquaintance survived the incident and was able to speak to police.
Adam Joel Anhang, 32, was a Canadian resident identified by police as “an investor”. Anhang had previously resided in Manhattan for a number of years and was CFO for Antigua-based Dr. Ho Casino, the online arm of Asian multi-billionaire Stanley Ho’s vast casino empire. Golden Vazquez Lusts, Anhang’s 25 year old wife, provided an eye witness account of the incident to police.
Anhang was accompanying his “wife” to her car when they were intercepted by a subject dressed in workout apparel who then inflicted Anhang with several stab wounds using a kitchen knife. Three to the head, one to the left side of the back, two to his left side of the neck, and another to the chin, the lips and several in the stomach.
Lusts underwent a craneal contusion and a wound opened in the head. She was transported to Hoare Clinic and was to be operated on yesterday evening, revealed Lieutenant Hernandez, Director of the Division of Homicides in San Juan.
Neighbors heard shouts and the subject indicated that he was being assaulted. They observed Anhang being struck by the suspect as he begged for him to stop. The murder occurred just two blocks from the San Juan mayor’s home.
The victim, whose office is located in the Regency Hotel, had his wallet with identifications, four credit cards, passport, cash, a cellular telephone, cigarettes and a bottle of tablets still on his person.
Anhang was Founder and CEO of CWC Gaming live online gaming software and services, which currently powers over 15 licensees, including Gambling911.com sponsor MVPSportsbook.com and European-operated BetInternet. The company was set to bring on powerhouses Sportingbet and Ladbrokes.
The reaction throughout the online gaming community as can be expected is one of horror.
“At first I couldn’t believe it (the story) and thought it was some really sick joke,” said an individual who works for CasinoWebCam. “Until I had it confirmed by someone else from the staff a minute later. Unbelievable!”
“Adam was a frail nerdy guy,” explained one person close to him. “You could practically touch the guy and he’d fall over. I cannot understand why anybody would want to inflict this type of harm on the guy.”
This person went on to describe Adam as a “low key” type of guy.
“He wasn’t exactly a sociable type of guy but once you got to know him, Adam was a likeable well-meaning person.”
Anhang’s wife/girlfriend was discharged from the hospital late last night and has not been heard from since.
Anhang’s company had been an on-and-off advertiser at Gambling911.com over the past few years. G911 enjoyed an amicable relationship with both Adam and his company, CasinoWebCam.com.

This is a HUGE shock to me! I just talked to Adam a couple weeks or so ago. Adam was a great guy and one of the most straight forward individuals in this industry!
This is a real big loss to our industry, they don’t come any better than Adam!
RIP Adam!

September 26, 2005 at 12:55 am #673367AnonymousInactiveThis is so horrible I was wondering does anyone know if he went by Andy on msn? This is who I work with on my site and I have this horrible feeling they are one and the same.
September 26, 2005 at 3:05 pm #673398AnonymousInactiveI don’t know, we communicated by email and he was extremely prompt, even when travelling he answered within the hour as a rule.
He did like to keep in touch with a lot of people and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was “Andy”. I have not seen any webcam people online since…
September 27, 2005 at 2:36 pm #673444AnonymousInactiveHi everyone,
We were terribly shocked and saddened at the news of the tragic killing of our friend and partner Adam Anhang of Casino Webcam.
An unexpect death always seems harder to accept.
It is indeed a great loss for us and to all those who knew him well. Adam had been a client of ours for a very long time and was a very respectable and professional individual with great vision.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time. We will greatly miss working with Adam and will continue to work and support his team to honour his vision.

I will miss him greatly – the industry has lost a really good man.
September 27, 2005 at 6:36 pm #673455AnonymousInactiveThere is an update at 911.
The authorities are looking for his wife, who is missing since released from the hospital.
September 27, 2005 at 9:40 pm #673465AnonymousGuestshocking news!
my heart also goes out to family of the victim.
as to catching the person/people, well that’s the bad thing about the net, is that there is no police who are trained and have actual authority to cross the kind of boundries they’d need to be able to cross to do the kind of investigation that something like this might likely involve.
that said; follow the money trail and they’ll probably find the killer. Who benefited most from this man’s death and start looking there.
