The webmaster at online-casino-site(dot)com and online-gambling-site(dot)com keep spamming my blog… It is so frusturating there is no contact information on the websites. I am trying to figure out how to block the ip address on my blog service (plog)…anyone have any other idea’s on how to deal with this. I have his ip: 208.62.160.29 now I just need to figure out how to get his contact info from it.

Maybe with changing the blog software? I use b2evolution. It´s in php.

With b2evolution you are able to blacklist domains but also only sub-domains. You always can choose to blacklist local (only at your blog), by reporting to b2evolution and you can you use their blacklist. But by using their blacklist you has to clean the blacklist each time as there are also general words like casinos, vegas etc. blacklisted.

And the blog is fully integrated into your domain (no blog subdomain):
    www(dot)yourdomain(dot)com/blog

    Kdollar,

Many hosting control panels allow you to block an ip from access your site. Cpanel has this feature and I believe Plesk does as well.

Also, if you are hosting on a Unix/Linux type server, you can use the .htaccess file to block an IP or IP range.

Click here for info on blocking via .htaccess

Most sites I find use dynamic IP’s so I’m not sure that will work. I have tried to ban xxxhttp://www.on-line-casinos-online.com because they are always in my cpanels total referrers list but we are not anywhere on their site. I mean how do I get 183 hits from this URL xxxhttp://www.on-line-casinos-online.com/cgi-bin/top-casinos-online/in.cgi????

I think they use a program. First it was content spam now referrer spam is coming. And when I see the quantity (up to 400 single hits from one domain within 24 hrs) I´m sure they are using programs / scripts for this.

    Couple different ideas:

    1. Use .htaccess as mentioned above to block his ip’s….
here are a couple useful threads on the topic:

    2. Setup your blog software so that any comments have the link=nofollow specified in any posted URL’s.. so it doesn’t matter if someone spams you, as they won’t benefit in the search engines.
