Hi Everybody,
So I have this one banner that I created as a title bar. I was looking at it today, and finally realized that I think it’s distracting to the main content of the page. This is especially true for the main review pages (for example, http://www.poker-reviews.net/caribbean-sun-poker-review.htm)
I have a fair amount of traffic coming in (thank you MSN) but little conversions.
Do you think that the title bar (we’re not talking about the navigation to the left – I already know that sucks :colgate: ) needs to go?
Thanks for your input…

It is difficult to concentrate on any one section.
The review is nice and thorough. Are you going to offer rake back for Sun poker? Sun poker is a rake back room.

Maybe I’ll redesign (this time with CSS, thank you very much) the page without a left side navigation bar, and have a title, navigation bar below, and then the main content. This might be much easier on the eyes…
OR, for a temporary solution, maybe coloring the left navigation page a different color?
Wasn’t planning on doing rakeback as of yet, but maybe will consider it in the future.

I agree with Dom re the reviews – they are thorough….

Try making the top section, side section and body each a very different shade of green.
Rakeback rooms have people spamming, trying to steal the players you send.
July 11, 2005 at 1:55 am #668335AnonymousInactiveYeah, and most referrals to Caribbean Sun Poker are probably going to come from more experienced players looking for either something new or a way to clean up off of the less experienced players on the site.
Either way they are more apt to understand that rake back is a better incentive.
Maybe I better get with the times on that issue…
Thanks for the advice about color schemes, too.

July 11, 2005 at 2:32 am #668336AnonymousInactiveShe’s not trying to convince you to offer rake back. She’s making the point that if you choose to promote rooms that allow rake back that there are some affiliates who will try to steal your players. I question why anyone would be interested in rakeback at Car. Sun. A party skin is much more attractive to a big player, especially after making the no-limit games larger a while back. Crypto sites are for bonus whores.
July 11, 2005 at 3:24 am #668337AnonymousInactiveOK, right – but as I understood it, once a player signs up under my affilaite account, then the players is tied to me.
I realize that I would be competing with affilaites offering rake back, but that’s fine with me – just so long as no one can steal a referral once he/she has signed up.July 11, 2005 at 3:58 am #668338AnonymousInactiveHi Kevin,
I think your review content is quite well done. The only thing I might suggest from a design perspective isif you make the background of the content section white (and text black) and leave the left navigation background green.
Also another thought i had is you could make another subheading listing all the tournaments the poker room offers, freerolls or guarantees etc.
another thing that really got me thinking, where is the poker.com room review ? hehe,
July 11, 2005 at 5:43 am #668348AnonymousInactiveThanks for the suggestions, Chris.
And I am planning on adding many more reviews soon, so I’ll be sure to check out poker.com.
July 11, 2005 at 1:39 pm #668362AnonymousInactiveHere is some info on that, Kevin.

That said, the guys at sun poker are really nice folks. And I think your review is very well written. But then, I am not surprised…..
July 11, 2005 at 10:16 pm #668417AnonymousInactiveWow, I had no idea what a problem rakeback issues were.
I’ve also been reading the iGlobal Media posts regarding Party Poker’s changes in terms and conditions – and by allowing other affiliates to be able to “steal” a player that hasn’t converted to a real money player OR has a certain period of account inactivity, aren’t they just encouraging poaching?
Man, that sucks if this is true!
