Thanks for the heads-up!
April 22, 2005 at 2:04 pm #664546AnonymousInactiveAh, you beat me to it! I was just about to create a thread about this.
Yes, the PR update has occurred. I am pleased with the results. Choice Gambling now shows a PR 4, and Online Poker Craze is at PR 3. These are the results I had calculated for each site.
Both sites now have respectable PR on each and every page (even my links pages)! :bigsmile: :bigsmile: :bigsmile:
April 22, 2005 at 2:23 pm #664547AnonymousInactiveGoogle updated my PR1 to PR2 only. I suspect that some sites have broken the link exchange. I’ll have to check that when I have the time.
Anyway there is one good thing, almost all pages have a PR now, including all link pages.
There is something I don’t understand though. I have internal pages with higher PR than the frontpage.
By other side, if there is a PR in Yahoo, I’m certain it is much higher than in google since I have very good rankings on first page for certain competitive keywords, competing with long established respected sites. This is not a surprise for me since my site is a complex portal and is not targeting a very specific topic or keyword. As long as I know, a site with only a few pages and targeting a very specific topic has more chances in google in the short-run. That is not the case in Yahoo and MSN, and was my option from the very beginning.
For now I’m happy with it.

Effectivepoker PR0April 22, 2005 at 9:09 pm #664577AnonymousInactiveYay, my new site went from a PR0 to PR4 for every page, even the links pages! And my older site stayed the same at a PR4 but a lot of the internal pages went up to 3’s or 4’s. I’m happy!
April 22, 2005 at 9:27 pm #664579AnonymousInactivethanks sharp for checking for me. Now that I have a pr5 does it do anything? Seems like I am no where to be found for some google searches. What does pr really tell me? Should I be higher then other sites that have a smaller pr?

What PR’s do you see?The PR5 is correct — congratulations! I think the link you posted on this PR6 page helped you the most. A link from a PR6 page carries a lot of weight; you’re almost guaranteed a PR5 or at minimum, PR4. Also you have several links to your site from PR5 pages (1, 2, 3) which were surely helpful.The interesting thing is that these links are all on pages that have nothing to do with poker. So much for Google’s topic-relevant linking algorithm! Also, the anchor text isn’t at all related to poker. These two things are intriguing because they go against some widely accepted SEO ideas that many people try to follow. Hmmmmmm.

I’m not able to answer that.
I like to see PR upgrades, since it only happens a few times a year.
In terms of business, the only thing that matters to me is a good position in search engines capable of generating any money.
Search Yahoo and Google for top gambling terms and take a look at PR’s……
April 23, 2005 at 1:07 am #664594AnonymousInactiveI had a PR5 -> PR6, and a PR5 that stayed the same.
