I was playing at a cryptologic skin when I was contacted by a guy. He claimed that caribbean sun allowed rake-back, and offered players on the site rakeback deals.
Therefore I would like to know if Caribbean Sun encurages rake-back deals?
I can see that rake-back deals are booming on the net even though most sites does not allow rakeback…Could be interesting to find out wich sites actually allow rake-back deals.Thx
PokerboyApril 18, 2005 at 5:00 am #664295AnonymousInactiveI’ve been wondering about this topic lately myself. It seems that a few sites are being marketed under “rakeback” schemes, though I wonder if the affiliate programs themselves are aware of it. Took a guess and typed in http://www.rakeback.com and this site is offering rakeback deals for 7 sultans, royal vegas, and party poker.
Does Party Poker even allow this? And, if they do, how would you even track the activity of a player with their stats? The only way you could do it is to either set up a unique tracker for each Party Poker player you refer, or have the player send screenshots of their account to verify their play. Either seems fraught with challenges.
April 18, 2005 at 8:26 am #664297AnonymousInactiveRakeback at Party is not possible. They just promote Party because its the most popular skin. They offer the rakeback through another skin.
April 18, 2005 at 10:25 am #664300AnonymousInactiveParty fights rakeback. They close affiliate accounts that use individual trackers. There are a few sites that don’t mind. I looked into it a while back, but can’t remember who they are. Rakeback is not a good thing and hurts all affiliates and should be discouraged.
April 18, 2005 at 10:41 am #664301AnonymousInactivepokermonger – I agree. Therefore I posted this thread. I wanted to know if Caribbean Sun encurages rake-back. The guy claimed to be one of the affiliate managers brother, and that Caribbean Sun encuraged rake-back deals.
April 18, 2005 at 11:03 am #664302AnonymousInactiveHave you read the T&C’s? I haven’t read them but may later today to see. It appears that they either encourage it or don’t enforce it if they don’t. I just found at least 5 deals for Car. Sun ranging from 25 to 30% by just looking at one place.
April 18, 2005 at 1:42 pm #664306AnonymousInactiveHello All,
Caribbean Sun has allowed a few affiliates that asked to offer rake back to their customers.
PokerBoy – Can you let us know who contacted you and told you about rake back at Caribbean Sun? This is unethical, and Caribbean Sun will take action against some one that is doing this. Please let us know ASAP, so the appropriate action can be taken. What date, time, username, and game that you were playing?
Thank you!

Focal, I’m sorry but I despise that answer. Why offer rake back schemes to some affiliates and not others? As a business you either support rake back or you don’t. I assume that these affiliates generate a large amount of players so someone made the decision to accomadate them. This makes it very hard if not impossible for affiliates not able to offer rake back to ever reach the level that these affiliates are at. In addition, it hurts all affiliates. If that is the stance, that is fine but it should be listed in the T&C’s as something like this. “We allow some affiliates to offer rake back and don’t allow others to do the same. If you are not allowed to offer rake back and are caught doing so we will terminate this agreement.” I’m sure that this is not going to be published because it sounds so bad, but it appears that this is the policy. Please correct me if I am wrong.

My post stated, “Caribbean Sun has allowed a few affiliates that asked to offer rake back to their customers.”
Some affiliates had approached us and asked if we could accommodate a rake back structure for them. We looked into providing this, and implemented it to the affiliates whom asked. My post did not indicate that we offer rake back only to a select few affiliates.
Kind Regards,
April 18, 2005 at 6:17 pm #664329AnonymousInactiveSo can any affiliate offer rake back as long as they ask?
April 18, 2005 at 6:27 pm #664330AnonymousInactivePokermonger,
Yes.
April 18, 2005 at 6:32 pm #664333AnonymousInactiveFocal,
Thank you for the clarification. My apologies for misinterpreting your statement.
April 18, 2005 at 6:52 pm #664335AnonymousInactiveWell, this exchange makes it unecessary for me to inquire about Sun Poker’s stand on rake back schemes.
Perhaps you can still reconsider – this practise it quite harmful to the affiliate industry and I would hate to see a program I have supported for so long take such a destructive stance.
Granting permission for rake back schemes encourages theft and results in affiliates losing the players they rightfully earned. It is sparking a war that can only end with decent affiliates losing their players unless they settle for less and less pay at each round.
I am sorry, I can personally not support any program that endorses that sort of thing. It is blatantly unethical and disrespectful of your own affiliates.
I surely hope you will take some time out to think about this from our point of view. All the poker programs will have to make a decision here – go with rake back or go with affiliates who work without rake back. The two are unfortunately not compatible.
April 18, 2005 at 7:23 pm #664339AnonymousInactiveDom,
The affiliates that are doing rake back are simply taking a big percentage of their monthly earnings (in most cases ~ 80%), and giving that back to the players that signed up through them. The players are getting a percentage of their rake back.
It was the affiliates whom came to the poker room and asked if they could give a percentage of their earnings back to retain their customers. We try to accommodate as many special request for affiliates as possible, because you are part of our marketing team. If you have an idea that will help you bring in customers that is within our abilities to help, we will try to do so.
In addition, 49er Casino and 3 Diamonds offer 10% back on net losses to players. This is in an effort to help retain customers, because in the long run, retention is the key.
If I can answer any more questions, please let me know.
Kind Regards,
