Since I will be at CAC, I was trying to come up with a list of questions to ask different affiliate programs and also differnet webmasters regarding strategies/industry news/whatever? If oyu were going what information would you want to find out from people there?

I will be one of those you want to ask the questions to, but I believe your focus should be on a number of things:

    • Get to know the Affiliate Manager – build mutual trust with them
    • Work yourself out the best possible deal – this should be based on past experience with the Program, and other programs….
    • Create a task list for both yourself and the program, to reach common goals

From my point of view, that is what I am interested in – building a platform for future increased cooperation.

I look forward to meeting you there.

    Best regards, Stephen

    Hi,

well I think that this situation of our site’s content being copied and then put back out on the net should be something that is addressed.

There needs to be severe pressure put on the aff programs that allow this to be done, and in fact; are rewarding them by paying them for converts.

This is something that effects every single webmaster, whether they have found their content to have been copied; or not; because trust me; its only a matter of time before they get around to your site.

    my 2 cents.

*you’d have to ask someone else here where the thread is on this subject, but I know there is one somewhere.

I’ve noticed a lot of verbatim reviews myself. However, I don’t think much can be done about it, as many sites themselves don’t provide enough information for those to create unique reviews. For me I like to give my own views and experiences of each site I play at in, each review, so they have a personal touch.

Don’t get me wrong I find some interesting content out there and do pick at some that I like. But I do reword it to match my style of writing and content. So some similarities are naturally going to be out there. You may see some of my reviews on other sites. I have a few friends that don’t have time to write any so they were given permission to use some of mine.

If anyone needs help with a review, PM me. That’s the best I can do to help cut down on the plagiarisms

cj makes an excellent point. Trustworthy (good) webmasters create their own content or use only content they have permission to use. I have had a few things published and most of what I write about I learned from other print. But I put it into my own words, add some of my experiences and make it my own without distracting from anything I have read. Anyone smart enough to write a simple post in a forum can do the same thing. Most of us aren’t very good at it when we start, but with practice and a little work almost anyone can write content. In addition, I think that not only are these people thieves, they are lazy. What is worse than a lazy thief? Not much.

Not that I have much clout here, but….

The people who plagiarize other sites ARE lazy. And with laziness comes incompetence. What does that really mean? Not much of a conversion rate. Besides, people who are that lazy ARE NOT going to be able to market effectively because that takes time… Which is not what they are willing to spend. No SEO + Copied Content = 0 PR

    My 2 cents.

hi, yes but the goal with those sites isn’t to outrank us, its to get us banned from the SEs, or at least kicked way down the ranking pole, then that opens up room for these places other sites; to move into position.

    they know what they’re doing.
