Boss Media moves in on Mobile Casino Gaming Software
30 November 2004In order to play at online casinos the first thing you must do is download the casino gaming software. Some online casinos now offer the player a choice between downloadable software and instant Flash software. This option requires no download at all. Although there are a plethora of online casinos on the net, there are only a handful of high quality software developers. One of them is Boss Media, a Swedish software developer that provides gaming programs to many of the top casinos. A lot goes into making online casino software realistic, fun and smooth in playability. Recently Boss Media purchased a portion of a software provider that works with mobile software and games. Clearly Boss Media has their sights set on the mobile gaming industry as well.
Compared to software providers like Playtech and Microgaming, Boss Media originally started off in the late 90´s a relatively unknown. Since building a tight base of online casinos and going public in 1999 with impressive profits, Boss Media has started to turn some heads in the online casino market. Boss Media casinos are sometimes slightly unconventional when it comes to industry norms. While many other casinos offer mesmerizing bonus offers Boss Media Casino have always placed the focus on the quality of the service. Of course they also offer attractive sing up promotions but compared to other online casinos they aren´t always as dazzling. Instead, they pride themselves on providing the player with a high end gaming software available as a free download.
The approach seems to be succeeding for this online casino software provider. Boss Media recently announced its intention to acquire 20 percent of the Jadestone Group, another software developer that focuses on creating gaming programs for the mobile industry. The Jadestone Group is at the forefront of the industry when it comes to mobile phone software and online and multiplayer games for various digital channels. Boss Media believes the investment will benefit both companies. Peter Bertilsson, President and CEO of Boss Media had this to say:
‘This is an important milestone for us. We gain two things at the same time. One is a unique knowledge about the mobile area, in which it is difficult to keep pace with the rapid technological development for a company such as ours, and the other is that we gain access to know-how in the skill gaming area, which is closely related to our current portfolio technically but not in terms of the end-user experience. In the future, the telephone will be highly important as a distribution channel, both for gambling and entertainment games.
‘Our goal is to develop strong, commercial game concepts using state-of-the-art technology,’ added Robert Henrysson, President of Jadestone. ‘By teaming with Boss Media, the leading supplier of gaming system solutions, we will be able to jointly deliver a host of new, exciting products aimed at the global gaming market
