Starting with nothing, I am hoping that some of the more experienced of you can help me get started.

How important is the url? I have seen a few sites that do not have words like casino, gambling, etc. in them. Does it make a difference?

Having read a number of posts, it appears that SEO is going to be key to driving traffic to my site. I will need to plan my site with SEO in mind. Where can I learn more about SEO?

Having reviewed a number of sites, I have to admit to being more than a little intimidated. Many of them are huge with lots of content and a great look with cool graphics. I know that probably these sites did not start out that way, that more than likely these sites were built with an initial vision in mind and then added to over time. With this in mind, what can advice can any of you give me relative to site design?

Are most of you former programmers? Or, have you hired someone to produce your grahics, layout etc.?

Where can I get content for the site?

Since links seem to be important for SEO, how have you incorporated them into the layout of your site?

Any other suggestions would be helpful. What has made your site a success? (Other than hard work. That’s a given!)

I know that a solid foundation is necessary for long term success. I any of you can just point me in the right direction so that I can learn what it will take to get it right, it will be much appreciated.

    Hi Steve,

http://www.sitepronews.com/ helped me a lot to learn about SEO and webmaster tips & tricks in general.
You can subscribe for their newsletter.

It is better to have a keyword in a domain but you can include your keyword in the Url like http://www.somedomain.com/your keyword.html, too.

    Link exchanging is important.

Please LE with my site at http://www.cyberspace-casino.com/webmasters.html.

Some affiliate programs have screenshots of games others will allow you to use their site’s graphics.

    Good Luck. :)

Having keywords in your URL helps, but is no the major issue. Have a look at this site . Then search Google for “Teoma Rules”. Some people think it’s just a novelty that plays no importance in SEO, but I think that test proves some search engines do look at URLs.

I was not a former programmer when I started. When I was 17 I was asked to create a webpage about Artificial Intelligence using Dreamweaver (to test us on dreamweaver programming and AI theory). Instead I found it easier learning HTML at http://www.htmlgoodies.com That site is easy to understand and follow, and within a week or two you’ll be able to write/read html easily. By the way the HTML code is what the search engine robots look at when they index your site so it’s a good idea to know html so you know what they are seeing.

Most webmasters will just put a small text link somewhere on their site saying something like “casino directory” or “related links”. Most put it out of visitors sights, but I just put the link whereever. Links pages in the online gambling industry are mainly for search engine rankings, not to add to content.

If you want to succeed don’t try to rank well for the highly competivive terms straight away. Most people think you try to get high rankigns for “online casino” and “online gambling”. Start with a less-competitive keyphrase and work up.

Oh yeah, if you want you can link exchange with my site: http://www.best-online-casino-reviews.org/aff67611fd.php It’s all looking a bit wonky at the moment but that doens’t matter.
