By INQUIRER staff: Monday 11 October 2004, 06:10

THE MOUTHPIECE of the Chinese government said that the country must develop its own online gaming industry because imported games have unhealthy elements, although what these are remain unclear.

According to the organ, sales of online games in China soared to RMB$1.32 billion last year, while in the first six months of 2004 online game sales were RMB$1.55 billion.
