Does anyone here use Webposition Gold or WebCEO. If so, can you make a recommendation for one, the other, or both?
May 12, 2004 at 7:13 am #649166AnonymousInactiveI’ve used both and think both do well enough within limits.
WebCEO is the better choice I think currently. It’s keyword research tool is quite useful although not 100% accurate I don’t think.
The general consensus in the SEO community is “do it yourself seo” and if not, then webceo is the best bet for seo tools.
May 12, 2004 at 11:38 am #649173AnonymousInactiveGoogle specifically says to not use webposition gold.
May 12, 2004 at 10:18 pm #649183AnonymousInactiveClassics, does Google specifically name Webposition Gold?
In the last few days I remember a thread on an SEO forum where it stated something like, if you use Webposition Gold according to their terms then you are not in contravention of Googles terms. Of course, most people probably don’t read and the T&Cs so this is where Google has a problem. I’ll see if I can find it again.
May 12, 2004 at 10:23 pm #649184AnonymousInactiveOK, didn’t take as long as I thought.

Granted, this is from the company itself so there is some bias. Take out of it what you wish.

“Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.”
Can’t get much more blunt than that.
May 13, 2004 at 10:14 am #649196AnonymousInactiveOK, but more blunt would be to say that Google WILL BAN any site using WebPosition Gold.
I’m not defending it, as I don’t use it myself but I think this is one of those areas in SEO that has been exagerated. Common sense should prevail here and the use of automated tools only causes a problem when people use them in ridiculous time intervals and it causes unnecessary loads on resources.
May 13, 2004 at 1:22 pm #649198AnonymousInactiveIf you don’t use the reporting feature Google will not have a problem. I have noticed that they don’t have a problem as long as you use it only 1 or 2 time a week. The bottom line is when you use these feature you are using up there banwidth and that is what they have a problem with.
May 13, 2004 at 5:58 pm #649204AnonymousGuestGoogle specifically states WebPosition Gold as a breach of their terms and conditions, although it’s unlikey you’ll be penalized unless you’re sending an extremely large numbers of queries.
