I bet the casinos LOVE this story as more then a few people will follow suit and try what this guy did.

I am glad he won, but I bet the same thing has happened dozens of times where the player LOST everything on one spin too. No one tells you about those stories though…

I heard that news story on the radio last night.

What a very stupid thing to do!

I saw it on the news on TV this morning – at least he was young enough to pick up and go start over if he lost it all.

I think that’s what he was counting on, too.

    People loose everything very frequently.

Some of these people that bet everything and loose also kill
themselves shortly afterwards … interesting that they don’t
make a special on this with as much hoopla.

This was part of a documentary made for SkyTV over here. I missed the live finale though, so didn’t know that he’d actually won. He was kinda covered by the fact that Sky had doubtless paid him a fair old sum to make the documentary, so he’d mitigated his risk, as any half-decent gambler should do.

You got to vote whether he should place it on red or black. I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t vote that he put his life’s worth on double zero, though. That would have been far more entertaining.

I saw that many of the Vegas casinos wouldn’t take his bet though. They don’t really like to give the impression that anyone ever loses.

Don’t worry he had the money side well sorted.

I got a marketing email from one of the online casinos who were basically going to pay him £10k if he lost. Presumably there would have been more sponsors, including the fee Sky would have paid for the program. I imagine all that would have just about covered his £70k bet.

Smart bet, but I do hope it doesn’t inspire a bunch of people to wager away their lives.

It’s a wonder he didn’t do it naked with Golden Palace written across his chest.
