Have you seen this? I recieved this from Google Ad works group.
In response to a request made by the trademark owner, we have disapproved your ad and keywords that contain ‘blackjack’. The trademark owner of ‘blackjack’ notified us that AdWords ads were running with the trademarked term without the trademark owner’s permission or other legal authority for doing so.
this trademark only applies to ads that are targeting France and/or Monaco.
This sets a bad precident. I have been in the biz awhile but have used other advertising methods, this SEO can be brutal:confused:
March 10, 2004 at 3:37 pm #646052AnonymousInactiveLOL… who knows exactly what the trademark is?
In France there is a big supermarket chain – one of the largest in the world – called Casino. Who’s to say that they couldn’t pull the same stunt with regards to the French market?
Did Google ban “blackjack” across all your markets, or just France/Monaco? If the latter, I wouldn’t be too worried… LOL… just use “vingt et un” or any of the other French names/variations instead
March 10, 2004 at 6:15 pm #646057AnonymousInactiveor con cunard…
And add cochon to any reply.
ie. Dear Cochons,
Due to you being a bunch of con cunards (the almighty “C” word) you can kiss my derriere.
No one can trademark a generic term, french or otherwise.
OK, I was wrong, I just trademarked gambling and if you wish to continue to use that in any website you own, foward payment to….
Your $2500 license fee is valid for 12 months.
March 10, 2004 at 6:50 pm #646058AnonymousInactiveThe ban is only for France and/or Monaco but they put my whole campaign on hold because the word blackjack was in my title, can you believe that?
So I had to go back into my account and make sure I removed France, actually I just selected a few of the major world markets, did not want my account to be pulled because a trademard was issued in Albania.
What’s next is Vatican City going to trademark “Bingo”?
March 10, 2004 at 7:45 pm #646059AnonymousInactiveSheesh…
I only JUST got my Adwords account activated after Google flucked it up for about two years…
… and it is proving to be a major pain in the ass to manage LOL.
I think in the long run it’s better to do some targeting anyhow… but I completely agree that the account should not be put on hold – not especially after the hassles I just went through.
I don’t think the VC will ever admit that they trademarked “Bingo” – like RTG, they just allow someone else to claim to be the sole marketing agent
I bet you they now also own “soddingpriests”, “celibacysucks” and a few other choice domain names, though…
Dean – LOL.
March 10, 2004 at 11:40 pm #646062AnonymousInactiveHahaha, on the domain names!
Google has been flucking me up for some 6 months now too – I have considered changing my name and coming back as someone new.
Admittedly I get so irritated with them that I stay away for prolongued stretches of time after I have been put on hold again.
Google adwords sometimes makes me wonder if it’s worth the trouble at all – but they do work. When I can get them to work. Sometimes they work for months and suddenly – no more. Start all over again.
March 11, 2004 at 1:52 am #646083AnonymousGuestI never thought this slogan from a bumper sticker would ever have a place where I’d be repeating it
but when you mention adwords…
lets see, how’d that go…
oh ya
KILL ‘EM ALL AND LET GOD SORT THEM OUT!
just kiddin’ adwords people. please don’t start shutting down my campaigns every 500 impressions instead of 1000. You’re already Five dollaring me to near death.
March 11, 2004 at 4:53 am #646102AnonymousInactiveI had a few hits once on one of the sites from VC and couldn’t help but wonder if it was PJP himself.
Maybe it was a search for “the 10 cardinal rules of video poker”.
Hey! Greedyhog is in the top 20 on google for that. 😮
Love the bumper sticker BB.
