Apparently they are going to open a legal casino in Israel because illegal gambling is so popular there.

If illegal gambling is so popular in Israel, maybe a site targeting those players might be effective?

    Hi,
I am from israel, I can tell you that VERY FEW online casinos will take israeli players and the ones who do, try to make them leave as fast as possible (not giving bonuses etc.)
There are many reason for that and I will not count them here, but I would not build on this market …

Thanks, Janet — good info to know.

I’m interested in knowing why you feel that way if you’re inclined to share…

well i’m from israel too and I dont agree with you, Janet. There are many casinos who make good money from the Israelis.

The key to the israeli market is branding – meaning you’ll have to put a lot of money in advertising. If you just going to translate your site to hebrew, you are just wasting your time.

Interesting discussion… this is certainly not an area I have any expertise with.

I did check around as well – while one guy told me don’t waste your time, another one told me it was worth a lot of money.

My instinct says Playsafe is probably right, especially about the marketing/branding bit – but Janet is not wrong either because there are apparently a lot of bonus hunters in Israel as well.

To me, the real question is: Assuming you were able to do a site in Hebrew, properly localized and targeted and not just translated – your most important efforts should be focused on attracting the right clientele, correct?

There are content sites, and there are bonus sites, and there are banner farms. Each one attracts a different type of client.

So I think it would be safe to assume that if you can attract the right type of client, you should do okay, even with Israelis, who are also pretty big gamblers.

I think the sites that will work well in Israel are content sites and white label site. The site need to aim to the first-time online gamblers with simple instructions of how this thing works. A good forum could be helpful too.
You also need to know that israelis are spoiled. They want the casino to be in hebrew. The biggest proof for that is BeTheDealer. While this casino failed to enter the international market as a big player, in Israel it is the no.1 casino with almost zero competitors. Net Entertainment has recently came out with casinoeuro in hebrew, but they lack the branding and marketing of BTD.
To sum it all, the key to success in Israel is a good content site with a forum and a great advertising budget.

But if you really want to make big money in Israel you need a casino with a software in hebrew. Microgaming or RTG in hebrew could worth millions. If anyone wants to invest in it, please contact me.

The same could be said of any other country where English is not the dominant or official language :)

Having said that – the whole thing about gambling is getting people into their comfort zone. If they can have fun at home, playing at a casino in their own language, with efficient support and fast payouts, you’ll be successful in any language.

BTD – I believe it. As for Microgaming – there once was one, but it belonged to Golden Palace so when Golden Palace switched softwares, so did the Hebrew casino.

Foreign language products have been one of Microgaming’s biggest failures – because they tend not to listen to outside advice when it comes to localization. Hopefully, though, this will soon change.
