eCOGRA Announces Long Awaited Seals of Approval
eCOGRA (e-Commerce and Online Gaming Regulation) has announced that twenty-three online casinos have met their rigorous standards to win the right to display its seal on their sites. The seals are designed to protect the player, assuring gamers that their bearers will offer flair play, professionalism and honesty.
Jacques Louw, national lead partner for Global Risk Management Solutions in South Africa, a division of PricewaterhouseCoopers said, ‘Obtaining the eCOGRA seal is a major achievement and no short-cuts are available to applicant casinos. You have to meet fully the standards set out in the eGAP procedures adopted by the eCOGRA Board’.
Players using eCOGRA-approved casinos will benefit from a free dispute resolution service. Should they find themselves at loggerheads with a particular casino they can request eCOGRA’s assistance in the matter. ‘eCOGRA will act quickly to resolve any disputes, because the reputations of our organization, its members and the sites that are awarded our seal are very important,’ said Andrew Beveridge, chief executive of eCOGRA. ‘We have recently hired a full-time person in our London headquarters to serve as Fair Gaming Advocate. She has the authority to investigate allegations of problems, and to seek resolutions that leave all parties satisfied.’
eCOGRA, is a non-profit organisation based in the United Kingdom. The organization was established early last year with backing from the online gaming industry’s leading software suppliers. A full list of approved casinos can be obtained at http://www.ecogra.org/casinos.
I like the idea of eCOGRA.
We have no regulatory body and need to do some self policing.
ECOGRA is as close to that as we are going to get.
