    Hi,

I am not knowedgeable enough to know if its a big deal or not, but I have a spyware program that is always “finding” something to do with Microgaming,

Microgaming comes up under the heading of “parasite”
the location is ” HKEY_CURRE….” and it cuts off there where the … are. under the heading type it says “registry”

and finally at the end of the box is a column with the heading “danger” and under that for this “parasite” the danger level says “severe”.

I can tell you most the other things that are severe are nasty popup crap or stuff like that.

I got this program called “spyware” because I used to work some on the porn side and still try to keep up with it a bit … just in case. And you can’t surf porn without these or your PC will be so full of crap it isn’t funny.

Here is what the spyware says in notation about the microgaming parasite:

“Places Icons and favorites on your computer. Also installs ad-ware driven games that will infect your machine with more Spyware. May come bundled with other applications, or as a drive-by download.”

    interesting huh?

I don’t think so, the program has a “delete parasites” button which I’ve done several times to thing from Microgaming but it always is there again when I run the program.

I don’t really know what to think of it, but I do feel it isn’t doing any of us any good to be put into the category of “seveere”.

If I didn’t know Microgaming as welll as I do, and say it was from a different casino software, I”d be deleting it in a second, and when it came back like this one does, I’d really be trying to find it and delete the source.

But I’m not too worried about Microgaming, I guess ….

    The HKEY_CURRE

stands for HKEY_CURRENT_USER and it is just a section of the registry that is related to a user profile.

That in and of itself does not make it spyware as many many programs will set keys in that part of the registry as well as a few other sections.

In fact some spyware purposely will not go into that section and go further and try to conceal their names in the registry to make it more difficult to see them.

I understand that some of the spyware programs call some types of cookies spyware.

Thinking of Microgaming and cookies, what worries me a lot more is that IE, if set to default privacy values, continues to reject all referback cookies.
