    😮

    and I repeat: 😮

I’ve recently read that Overture has acquired Altavista and Fast Search Engine (I’m not sure if its AlltheWeb/Fast, or a different “fast” engine)

This is interesting news. According to Overture, the plan is to approach search engine technology with a three pronged attack.

The first prong being its ppc listings, (by the way, keyword Online Casino is at $33…..whew!!!). Then, Oveture states that it will use Altavista’s algorithmic search methods to produce supplementary results….and the Fast search engine they acquired, being the third leg, will offer further support.

The full news briefing is on Overture’s site….

I for one dislike PPC engines because of the exclusive nature they put marketers in: You either have the bucks to play, or you don’t…..

PPC engines ensure the survival of the CASINO, not necessarily the affiliate, as the Casino makes much more profit on the whole than even the best affiliates.

Notice that for keyword Online Casino, the top listings are not affiliate pages, but individual casinos themselves….

This is distressing…. in the long haul, PPC search engines could potentially put the affiliate out of business!

Thank God for Google, even with its pain in the ass indexing and ranking policies……

    :baaa:

Casinos outbidding their own affiliates has driven the prices so sky high.

I am quite unhappy with the practise.
