INFORMATION: http://www.gigse.com – click on “AFFCon”The River City Group is pleased to announce that it’s adding a one-day pre-Summit (Global Interactive Gaming Summit & Expo; http://www.gigse.com) conference on Affiliate Marketing for Online Gaming Operations. The conference is being produced in cooperation with the Internet CASINO Affiliate Marketing Association (iCAfma.org), the leading association in this important sector of the industry.
The one-day seminar will explore critical issues pertaining to the casino revenue-share business model, affiliate programs and performance marketing.

This conference offers webmasters an opportunity to interact with the entire spectrum of the industry. In addition, it will give operators from around the world the chance to learn the latest in affiliate marketing concepts, understand the benefits of pay-for-performance advertising and above all, help define the ethics and standards of this blossoming marketing method. Attendees of this prestigious event will come away with a clear understanding of how to orchestrate a successful online casino strategy using affiliate programs and performance marketing.”
Speakers at AFFCon will include:
Glenn Fishback – Gator Corporation
Dave Rae – Findwhat.com
Larry Hartman – CasinoPaycheck
Zane Green – ReferBack
Manuel Franck – GoldenStar Network
Warren Jolly – HouseWinnings.com
David Sack – Fortune AffiliatesApril 9, 2003 at 3:56 pm #638907AnonymousInactiveI wonder who picked these speakers.
Sounds like a pro scum convention with a couple of exceptions.
I’ll be there but am not sure about listening to some of these people.
April 9, 2003 at 5:04 pm #638908AnonymousInactiveThe conference is set up to provide a forum for discussion of important topics to the affiliate section of the industry. We invited the speakers based on the topics we put together and with the notion that this is a great opportunity for people in the industry to hear all sides of the discussion and put forth their opinions and ideas. Its aim is to be a neutral ground for furthering new ideas – much like online forums such as this one.
Thank you for your intent to attend AFFCon and I hope the conference is helpful to you.

A discussion with Gator – no thanks. Not even to present your side of the situation? To rebut their claims or representations? You never know, they might have something to say that will surprise you.
I respect your position, but hope you’ll keep an open mind.
April 9, 2003 at 7:48 pm #638911AnonymousInactiveI am actually familiar with their proposed policy that is supposed to make it so they steal less – actually it makes it worse.
They will abandon the less profitable, less targeted clicks on small banners on top of aff sites and steal the better prospects instead.
They will confine themselves to stealing the very targeted player that clicks through to a casino of his choice from your site.
If I stand there and listen to them talk about it I am likely to succumb to spontaneous combustion.
They are talking at your conference as well as in Vegas. They will gain much exposure and will be able to adress all the casinos. They will have their lawyers in the audience.
This is really really bad for us!
April 20, 2003 at 10:59 pm #638944vladcizsolMemberWarren Jolly of House Winnings and David Sack of Fortune Affiliates have both said they will not be attending this *event*.
As noted, Gator is a featured speaker at Affcon. Their predatory advertising model costs real affiliates hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. This company and the scumware they promote has been the subject of a boycott by our industry ogranization the GPWA. Yet they are invited to speak to affiliates????
While we respect GIGSE and Rivercities Group, Casino Affiliate Programs is boycotting the Affcon one day event and recommending that responsible affiliates (And Affiliate Managers) do likewise. (We do recommend you visit GIGSE in Toronto)
GPWA is planning a Casino Affiliate Event in the near future. I think as gambling affiliates we should support our own first rather then outsiders who come in and try to capitalize on our efforts.
The organizers of Affcon (Not GIGSE) are merely in this for a quick buck and have no interest in the ongoing growth of Casino Affiliate Programs. Save your time and money for an event that Benefits YOU.
April 21, 2003 at 2:38 am #638947vladcizsolMemberI just received information regarding the Casino Affiliate Convention this fall in Las Vegas. Apparently Glenn FishHead from Gator has been scheduled as a speaker at that event also.
I have written to the organizer, Marc Lesnick and informed him that if Gator appears then I will not be attending and will recommend that affiliates and affiliate managers bypass this event as well.
I will keep you posted on what develops.
April 21, 2003 at 5:44 pm #638959AnonymousInactiveI would say do not just boycount gator, do it also to the casinos who use it!
JanetApril 21, 2003 at 5:55 pm #638960vladcizsolMemberExcellent point Janet and that is what GPWA has been advocating with their Scumware boycott.
Casino Affiliate Programs supports that position also.
April 21, 2003 at 11:30 pm #638961AnonymousInactiveYou can find a constantly updated list of these casinos in the GPWA open forum in the section “Scumware Battle”. And they are being boycotted.
While I will be in Toronto, I will probably not attend Affcon. The more I think about it, the more I resent Gator having been given a platform to speak.
April 22, 2003 at 4:51 am #638964AnonymousInactiveThere is an old Chinese proverb…
“Keep your friends close, keep your enemies even closer!”
It is I who agreed to have Gator on the panel at AffCon.
… and I can hardly be accused of befriending the predators.
On the contrary, it’s an abhorrent practice and we’ve been
fighting it vigorously. In fact, http://iAfma.org was set
up mostly to fight predatory advertising. The more astute amongst us will realize that getting
Gator to tell us more of their operation, then engaging
them in debate, is a better way to go …. than running
away and sulking that a big bully is taking your candyStand up and fight. Seize this opportunity to face up
to the predators like Gator and make positive moves
to combat it. By staying away you leave the floor
to the enemy and they will win by default.Boycotting the casinos is not the solution. Education
is. Come to the debate and discuss the situation. By
doing so you are helping the casinos see the light
and boot out the predators. If you are not there to
present your side of the story to the casinos, they
will not know any different and the predators win again.Cheers,
Herby

Louis,
While it is true Warren has sent me a personal email expressing they do not want this opportunity to speak at this event, please don’t speak for David Sack. I am in direct contact with the senior management of Fortune Affiliates and I know David Sack personally. In fact, we’ll be meeting in a few days and the last I heard they have every intention of seizing the AffCon opportunity.
In addition, we have their full support and patience while http://iCAfma.org gears itself up to follow in the success of http://iAfma.org
Thanks for keeping your posts factual.
Cheers,

Louis,
Furthermore, please allow me to help you understand the background to why the iCAfma.org is on the AffCon website.
iCAfma.org is by no means the “organizer” or involved financially in ANY way. We get ZERO from this event. All Sue asked me to do was suggest some speakers. All I’m getting is a free pass.
Let me state this categorically: AffCon is GIGSE and GIGSE is AffCon. By calling a boycott for AffCon, you are calling a boycott for GIGSE and hurting Sue’s pocket. She has gone out of her way to include affiliate marketing into GIGSE. I fail to see why the affiliate marketing community would not be grateful to be there. (You can bet your boots the predators will be there to talk to the casinos. Why leave them the space to dominate the arena? Staying away is NOT the smart thing to do.
Hope this helps.

“Boycotting the casinos is not the solution.”
GPWA recommends a boycott of Casinos which use scumware. Are you stating that iCafma is against the webmasters on this important point? I take you statement above plus your warm hearted invitation to Gator to indicate that. Is iCafma’s primary focus casinos and media companies with affiliates taking a seat far back in the auditorium?
I can only hope responsible affiliate managers see the value of joining their partners on this issue. You can be sure many of us will be watching what they decide to do.
