Google putting my h1 tag in search titles…

AffiliateNoob asked 4 years ago
I have a problem….. Google is putting the H1 tag I have on my home page on the end of almost every page title in the search results.

I am using wordpress with a flytonic theme and SEO by yoast plugin.

what I put in : Ex : Casino – some description of the casino

Google : Ex : Casino – online casino bonuses <

H1 tag on my home page

I use different titles and meta description on all pages and reviews, but still Google chooses to to this.

Just wanted to know if someone knows why Google is doing this or had the same problem <span title=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

Ps. this does not happen in bing or yahoo

There are three possibilities here I can see right away, with all or just one of them existing simultaneously.

1. Google will gladly alter a title regardless of the title tag on the SERPS to better describe the query to the user (somewhat-rare)

2. Assuming you have created a “page” as your homepage, and set that page as the homepage in the settings, you should be sure to make edits to that page, including Yoast title and desc. Failing to do this can cause mismatches, like naming it “blog”, ensure that the fields for those options that came with the flytonic theme are blank.

3. Yoast settings: Almost all sites should check the option “force re-write titles”. Not doing this will cause Yoast to add suffix extensions to the titles when there is room. Why? Who knows lol!
