Google

Shotgunpete asked 4 years ago
Yes another topic about Google.

WTF is going on? A couple of weeks about one of my keyword phrases all but hit the road on google (same with the site). No Problem – that happens from time to time – re-indexing, old indexes go up while they fiddle with the latest and greatest algo. I was getting crawled by google for 1/2 hour, 45 mins ect. about 2 minutes ago I’m back to number 1 with one of my other sites at number 2 – for how long? who knows.
3 different results with netscape (I know – but I still like it) Safari and firefox

anyone else see the same thing?

Shotgunpete,

Sounds like Google to me, ha.

But to answer your question, no I have not seen similar problems with our sites.

Seems like there is something about your site Google doesn’t like or is struggling with when it is crawled. Do you feel your website is structured cleanly, i.e. pages, links, coding, urls, etc.? Is your site new or have you had it for a few years?

New sites can bounce around a lot and if you have any issues with the nuts and bolts of the website itself can cause difficulties for the Google Bots.

Shotgunpete silly question, but have you signed up for a google webmaster tools account and added your sites to it? Its a great way to see if there are any googlebot crawl errors with your websites.

yes, i got one of my older sites back to page 1 again after being sandboxed for 3-4 months.
No one knows for how long tough, maybe until next algo update.

We hope for good while keep building backlinks.

Same as one of mine sites, up and down, up and down on the same phrase.
Still on page 1 though but jumps around on positions without reason, I still got the same sites around mine.

May I ask how you can see when googlebot has stopped by for a cup of coffee to get some new kick of caffeine?

In a way, I can see that at my host. But is there a software too?

Well.. I don’t have any wordpress websites.

If there is a software except samurai or any other expensive one I really would like to know.

Yes I have signed up with webmaster tools – look at them everyday. But the NEW webmaster tools doesn’t update on a regular basis.

Plus it says I’m numer5 for a keyword phrase – I go look (on a number indexes .ca .com .co.uk) I’m there on some but not on other

eg. It says I’m numer 6 (web results – United States) for “best casinos” I look I’m nowhere
I’m suppose to be numer 11 for best casinos online – can’t find it

It’s google -been like this for years.

I have also read that if you use the same browser as your webmaster tool, and you are still logged on, you see higher ranking

I do feel ur pain! I’ve gone through with something similar with google…have a domain which was all over the place in the google serps – disappearing and re-appearing, getting traffic for keywords when i couldnt find myself in the serps. went on for a couple of years and then this year it returned back to normally. It went from 8k uniques a day to 2k, and after all that 4-5k a day.

I didn’t find google particularly helpful in trying to fix whatever the problem was.

But if u want to chat on Skype and see if we can explore possible solutions, am happy to help. Pm me!

SERPs should not differ base on the browser you’re using.

i would first of all make sure your site is compatible across all browsers
then use a SEO rank checker to determine and monitor your SERPs movement
also don’t forget search results are localized

are you using a proxy?
