Over the past few months, there have been grumblings that Zynga is interested in entering the “real money online gaming” industry.
Recently, Zynga confirmed this notion online:
We build games and experiences that our players want and love. Zynga Poker is the world’s largest online poker game with more than 7 million people playing every day and over 30 million each month.
We know from listening to our players that there’s an interest in the real money gambling market. We’re in active conversations with potential partners to better understand and explore this new opportunity.
While this statement may not be as concrete as some people would like, it is easy to see that the company is interested in potentially pushing into real money games.
In addition to online gambling, there are rumors that Zynga is actively pursuing partnerships with land-based casinos in the United States.
How Serious is Zynga?
On the surface, it appears that the company is preparing itself to jump into real money games in the near future. Of course, a lot of this will be based on regulation of online gambling in the United States.
Although it may take some time for the company to get involved online – due to current issues in the US – it could more easily partner with a land-based casino, without any delay.
Although Zynga has been rumored to have strong interest in both online gaming and a land-based partnership, aside from the above statement there is nothing that suggests this is definitely going to happen.
