One of the online gaming world’s leading software providers, Microgaming, has announced a significant upgrade to its mobile gaming offering: The company’s games are now available on Android v2.2 Froyo mobile devices running Adobe Flash 10.1.
“This industry first compliments Microgaming’s existing, extensive, mobile casino offering in partnership with industry leader Spin3™,” the company stated in a news release. Spin3 is Microgaming’s exclusive partner for the mobile gaming arena, the release explained.
Android is quickly catching up with Apple as the leading smartphone operating system, so its interest to the mobile casino industry is obvious. “Analyst house Gartner predicts Android will increase its market share to 14% of the global smartphone market in 2012 and become the number one Global Mobile operating system by 2014, surpassing Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and iPhone devices,” the news release states.
“The interest around Android v2.2 is massive, the Froyo user interface and experience is comparable to that of the iPhone and the platform is rapidly growing in popularity with developers and consumers,” Mike Hebden, Head of Casino for Microgaming, commented. “Android has more momentum than any other platform and is largely driving the increased sales of smartphones. A number of pad style devices will also soon be running Android v2.2.”
Betway Casino is the first operator to launch these games, per the news release, but more are expected in the coming months.
Microgaming will be exhibiting at London’s ICE gaming exhibition, running just days before the London Affiliate Conference on January 25th through 27th, 2011. Get details here.
