January 22, 2010 (CAP PR Wire) – Microgaming Poker Network representatives will be showcasing a demo of their new mobile poker offering at this year’s ICE Totally Gaming conference, in Earl’s Court from 25th to 27th January.
The new Microgaming mobile poker app will be available for real money play to Microgaming operators in Q1 2011. It is compatible with Android v2.2 devices, including the HTC Desire Smartphone and Samsung Galaxy tablet. Android overtook Apple last year in sales of smartphone operating systems in the US, and the trend is anticipated to be replicated in Europe*.
Lydia Melton, Head of Poker at Microgaming, says: “For years now, industry experts have speculated on the mobile market’s possibilities for gaming, and every year has proven disappointing in terms of customer uptake and variety of software, particularly for poker; that is about to change. The technology is ready, the software is ready, and we believe the players are ready as well. The future is here. We are extremely excited about this release.”
Microgaming’s mobile poker offering will join the download, 3D and Flash poker platforms, each of which is available to Microgaming operators. The mobile poker is modelled upon the Flash platform, Fast Track, which was designed for beginner players and features a streamlined table selection process.
This news follows on the previous announcement about Microgaming’s industry leading release of casino games on Android v2.2, and it further demonstrates Microgaming’s commitment to being at the forefront of technology advancement in the eGaming sector.
