Your customers’ email inbox offers up some pretty valuable, and crowded, Internet real estate. So unless you’re offering up something of value, there’s really no incentive for anyone to sign up for your newsletters and announcements in the first place. That’s why offering up something like a free e-book or exclusive content is a great way of turning site visitors into subscribers and, eventually, into depositing players.
A benefit based invitation lets the player know right up front that subscribing to your content is not a waste of time. Let’s face it, “Sign up for our free newsletter and receive a complimentary copy of E-Gaming Success,” is a more appealing call to action than, “Sign up for our complimentary newsletter.”
But don’t let the value end with the initial gift or bonus. Make certain that your newsletter provides ongoing value in the form of great content. Sports book affiliates can provide free game picks; poker sites can provide strategy tips; and all affiliates can offer exclusive bonuses to make their newsletters worthy.
Unless you’re offering quality newsletter content on an ongoing basis, there’s really no reason for your customers to keep subscribing.
If you’re not comfortable building a good looking, readable HTML formatted e-mail newsletter, consider using an e-mail marketing application like iContact that provides easy to use newsletter templates.
